Grimm Krupa Responds to Fayette County Officials’ Comments Caught on Hot Microphone

April 22, 2025

SMITHFIELD – Rep. Charity Grimm Krupa (R-Fayette) issued the following statement after being alerted to comments caught on a live microphone before a public meeting of the Fayette County Commissioners:

“During yesterday’s meeting, a troubling exchange between Commissioner Vince Vicites and County Solicitor Jack Purcell was caught on a hot mic (see video below). They launch into a personal and unprofessional attack against me for holding an Elected Officials Ethics Workshop – a bipartisan event designed to support transparency, accountability and integrity in public service. They go so far as to condemn Democrats who attended.

“What’s even more disturbing is that Commissioner Vicites declares that he ‘hates’ me and that I’m ‘no good.’ That kind of rhetoric has no place in public discourse, especially from someone entrusted to serve the people of this county. Disagreements are one thing; hatred is something else entirely.

“The county solicitor falsely claims that my office failed to return a call to the Fayette County Recycling Center. That is absolutely untrue. Every call and concern that comes into my office is taken seriously, and my team works hard to respond promptly and professionally, regardless of political affiliation.

“I don’t serve as state representative to be liked by political insiders. I serve to be a voice for the people and to challenge the way things have always been done behind closed doors. That means holding everyone, including myself, to a higher standard. I will not apologize for that.”
