Grimm Krupa Announces More than $367,000 for Multimodal, Wastewater Projects in 51st District
January 21, 2026
SMITHFIELD – Rep. Charity Grimm Krupa (R-Fayette) announced a total of more than $367,000 in state funding has been awarded to two projects in southern Fayette County.
Smithfield Borough is receiving $300,000 to replace sidewalks and crosswalks on Morgantown and Liberty streets. This project is receiving funding from the Multimodal Transportation Fund, which provides grants to encourage economic development and ensure a safe and reliable system of transportation is available to the residents of the Commonwealth.
The Menallen Township Sewer Authority is receiving more than $67,000 to clean two sequencing batch reactor tanks as part of the authority's wastewater treatment system. This project is receiving funding from the PA Small Water and Sewer Program, which assists with the construction, improvement, expansion, rehabilitation or repair of a water supply system, sanitary sewer system, storm sewer system or flood control projects.
“These projects represent two important parts of our communities,” Grimm Krupa said. “The first project ensures safety and walkability for pedestrians in Smithfield, while the second ensures the wastewater system in Menallen Township stays in working order. I’m glad we were able to bring this funding back to these important projects here in Fayette County.”
