“America Reads the Bible” Ahead of America 250

HARRISBURG – The Declaration of Independence, one of America’s most important founding documents, opens with:
“When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.
“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.” https://www.archives.gov/founding-docs/declaration-transcript.
The Declaration then closes with:
“And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes and our sacred Honor.
“From beginning to end, and as well as various places in-between, the Declaration speaks to the relationship between the nation’s beginnings and its spiritual foundation.
“As our nation approaches the historic America 250 milestone, Americans from coast to coast are invited to participate in a powerful and unifying event that honors this spiritual foundation: America Reads the Bible.”
“I am deeply honored to have been invited to serve as a live reader tomorrow evening in Washington, D.C.,” said state Rep. Charity Grimm Krupa (R-Fayette).
The America Reads the Bible event stands as both a celebration and a call to remembrance that the United States was founded upon Christian principles that shaped our laws, our culture and our understanding of human dignity and liberty.
